Week 4
1. I worked with a team to produce high-quality ADR sound for the narration of Estelle. The sound design supervisor, Jai Lingenfelter (Sound Design Major), controlled the recording equipment. The script supervisor, Mia Nieves (Dramatic Writing Major), managed potential dialogue and continuity errors. My main role as the director was to work with the voice actress, Tabitha Stallworth ( Acting Major), to deliver the correct tone and pitch I wanted to convey for the "child" character. The updated narration will be integrated into the next edit (week 5).

2. I revisited scene 2 shot c (with the clay and the mixing bowl) to reanimate the spoon to move faster and for a longer amount of time, as my last render felt a couple of seconds too short. I also modeled a "Play-Doh" container and created a texture that mimics the brand's logo as an additional prop to the shot. Then I changed the balls of clay's shape and texture to make them look more malleable and like something that has been played with. Lastly, I rendered out two sequences with two different cameras to create a more dynamic sequence.
3. I gathered inspiration for the stylization of the 2D silhouette characters. I think the direction I am going for is a more painterly style/ traditionally drawn character to A) contrast the CG and B) feel more "childlike".

Week 3
1. I began to render sequences for scene 2E-2G. I integrated the astronaut glove and animated it, I updated textures on the sky, Earth, and The Gloves. I also updated camera angles and added Depth of Field. The textures on Estelle have not been finalized, but I added a little bit of fur to the CG doll to get closer to the final look.

Week 2
1. I created an updated edit of the current renders from Scene 2. By the next edit, I anticipate having new voice recordings, sound effects, and updated renders from Scene 3. I am planning on starting comp work on the live action shoots by then too.
2. I am continuing to work on texturing scene 2. Below is the texture of the oven mitts (or The Gloves) in the viewport of Substance Painter, which I am currently having issues translating into Karma with the displacement and normal maps.

3. I rendered out a short sequence from a shot with Estelle in the oven. I am beginning to lock down cameras, and I will potentially include this new angle in the final edit.
Week 1
1. Below is my most recent edit from Studio I. To stay on track with completing my short film within the next month, I created a schedule that outlines all aspects of Estelle that have yet to be finished.
2. I changed the model for the UFO. After some reflection, I decided a more stereotypical cylindrical-shaped UFO with a simple plastic material would read better and match the aesthetic of the shot with the moon more. I also changed the texture of the 'sky' to have less contrast between the highlights and shadows, which I used references of nightlight projectors for. I made the color of the moon a light blue to create that connection with viewers that Estelle is from the moon .
